"Illegal characters in path" when running installLinker.exe

Jan 27, 2012 at 9:08 PM

Hi,

When execute the following command:

"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\Tools\dotNetInstaller 2.0\installerLinker.exe" /Output:"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\bin\Debug\myappSetup.exe" /Template:"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\Tools\dotNetInstaller 2.0\dotNetInstaller.exe" /Configuration:"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\BootstrapperConfig.xml" /AppPath:"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\bin\Debug\" /Verbose+
I get the following error:

EXEC(0,0): error : Illegal characters in path.

If I remove

/AppPath:"Z:\Code\myapp\ie_addon\src\Installer\bin\Debug\"
I don't get the error. Any suggestions?

Well, I just found the solution (for anyone else that runs into this). Once I removed the trailing backslash from the AppPath, the error went away. It's certainly a bug in installLinker though - it should be able to handle the trailing backslash.

I created an issue for it. It's a great one for someone who wants to make their first contribution to DNI :)
