Super quiet mode

Maybe I missed something in the documentation, but is there a way to launch the bootstrapper in a way that it is completely silent (without the extracting cabs progress bar)?  I suddenly got a requirement that they want an option to install using a logon script in such a way that would be completely transparent to the end user.

Thanks as always  :)

I think this is just a bug. Is there anything else except this progress popup? I can suppress it on a silent install.

I believe that this is the only window that pops up.

This is fixed in http://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=23955. Please try it, let me know if it works. I also filed http://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=2840 to bring back the unintended semi-silent behavior that was implemented.

Change worked as expected.  Thanks!

A newer build has a new UI mode called "basic". This now mimics the MSI engine.

  • /q: completely silent
  • /qn: full UI mode
  • /qb: basic UI mode (this is how it worked before the bug was fixed - you get the progress popups, but there's no user interaction)

Don't forget to resave the config file, silent option has been replaced with a ui_mode option, the editor is always backwards compatible and will load the older format and save in the new one.
